Cynthia Cotts says 85 out of about 115 members of the Village Voice union signed a letter to management declaring “our profound outrage and disgust” at the recent Voice layoffs. They added: “We believe the motive here is greed on the part of the paper’s owners, a greed that is apparently willing to sacrifice editorial quality in pursuit of profits.” Cotts says paranoia and sadness rule at the paper as rumors say more heads will roll.
