The New York Times is launching Watching, a website “focused on helping readers sort through the mountains of video content released on streaming services and cable,” according to Digiday.

The website will be edited by Gilbert Cruz, the television editor at The New York Times, according to Digiday. Margaret Lyons, who recently announced her departure from Vulture, will be a writer for the site.

Following in the mode of Bill Simmons’ forthcoming sports website The Ringer, the site will begin as a newsletter, according to Digiday.

By creating a television website, The New York Times enters territory that has already been staked out by several online competitors, including Vulture, New York’s entertainment vertical that specializes in summaries, features and analysis about movies, entertainment and music. With the rise of streaming and the steady rollout of prestige television shows like “Game of Thrones,” websites such as Vulture, Salon and the now-defunct Grantland have found audiences by recapping and parsing TV.

Update: A previous version of this story was based on an unpublished version of a story by Digiday. That story has since been published.
