Poynter Online Advertising Opportunities and Standards
By Colleen Barry Eddy (More articles by this author)
Director, Poynter Career Center

Poynter Online offers you terrific opportunities to get your message to a rich audience.  With more than 2 million page views a month, Poynter Online will help you target the audience you seek.

BANNER ADS:  You can advertise on the top of the columns of Romenesko, Al's Morning Meeting, E-Media Tidbits and our other columns.  You can also advertise on the top of other POYNTER ONLINE pages.   Banner sizes for these ads are:  728 X 90 pixels and can be no larger than 30 KB.  Simply send us the art work in a JPG or GIF, the URL that you'd like your ad to link to, and the alt tag (the text that is displayed if users have images turned off).

TILE ADS:  You can also advertise in all of these pages with a tile ad 180 X 150 pixels and can be no larger than 20KB.  Simply send us the art work in a JPG of GIF, the URL that you'd like your ad to link to, and the alt tag (the text that is displayed if users have images turned off).

Rates vary depending on your frequency of advertising and the length of the time you run your ad.  Call me at 727-553-4711 for details.

Advertising Standards for Poynter Online

Poynter Online reserves the right to reject any advertising.  Some considerations that may prompt us to reject an ad include:

 *     OFFENSIVE:  Content must not be patently offensive and cannot contain attacks of personal nature. They must not be overly competitive, libelous, threatening, harassing or refer abusively to the goods and services of others.

*     MISLEADING: Content must be accurate and in no way fraudulent, deceptive or misleading. Ads that describe a book or product as “number one best seller” must contain a citation to the bestseller list.

*     ILLEGAL: The content cannot violate civil, municipal provincial/state or federal laws.

*     CONFLICT WITH POYNTER VALUES: The content cannot conflict with the values the Poynter Institute upholds. (You'll get a sense of what we stand for via this discussion of our mission and these standards guiding our publishing.)

You are solely responsible for the content of your posting.  Poynter does not review every listing posted on Poynter Career Center, and is not responsible for the content of the message. Poynter reserves the right to delete, move or edit listings that it, in its sole discretion, deems unacceptable.
