SOLD OUT: A Community Conversation with Gwen Ifill: Inside and Outside the Beltway
UPDATE, 3/13/08: Along with speaking at The Poynter Institute during her visit to the Tampa Bay area, Gwen Ifill taped her Washington Week program -- as well as a special Tampa Bay edition of the show -- at the University of South Florida's Mahaffey Theatre, located a few blocks from Poynter. She was also interviewed for WEDU's "Florida This Week" public affairs program. WEDU, West Central Florida's community PBS station, has put together a series of videos related to Ifill's visit, which you can watch here.

A Community Conversation: Gwen Ifill: Inside and Outside The Beltway
A moderated conversation with Gwen Ifill, host of the long-running PBS show, "Washington Week with Gwen Ifill." Be part of a candid conversation, moderated by Karen Brown Dunlap, president of The Poynter Institute. Learn why Ifill chose journalism, her take on the 2008 elections and how she views her role in Washington today. Proceeds will benefit students in Poynter's summer writing programs.

Gwen Ifill is the moderator and managing editor of "Washington Week," as well as a senior correspondent for "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer."  Before coming to PBS, she spent five years at NBC News as chief congressional and political correspondent, and still appears as an occasional guest on "Meet The Press." She is a native of New York City and a graduate of Simmons College in Boston. Ifill serves on the board of Harvard University's Institute of Politics, the Committee to Protect Journalists, the Newseum and the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism.
