The Poynter Institute announced today the appointment of Emmy award-winning Regina McCombs as a new member of the faculty. McCombs will help Poynter build on its virtual teaching programs, as well as bolster the Institute's teaching in multimedia.
McCombs is the senior producer for multimedia at
StarTribune.com, where she has worked producing online video for 11 years. In that role, she coordinates the video team's coverage, shoots and edits video stories, creates audio slide shows, produces multimedia projects and trains staff in creating multimedia. She's also taught classes in online journalism and TV news at the University of Minnesota, where she received her master's degree. Previously, she worked at KARE-TV for 13 years as a producer and photojournalist.
McCombs has written on multimedia for the Online Journalism Review and Poynter Online, judges contests that encourage good storytelling, and speaks around the country about finding new ways to tell stories on the Web, especially with video.
She begins her Poynter tenure in August.
