One of the few benefits of flying all of the time is the frequent flier miles I rack up -- which allows me free trips to see the grandkids and such.
Week after week, however, we are getting word that airlines are making it ever tougher to cash in. Continental says it is cutting award miles on short trips. Northwest and Delta are charging cash to redeem miles. United, US Airways and Frontier all have stopped handing out minimum miles for most short trips.
