EDITOR'S NOTE: Al's Morning Meeting is a compendium of ideas, edited story excerpts and other materials from a variety of Web sites, as well as original concepts and analysis. The column is fact-checked, but depends on the accuracy and integrity of the original sources cited. We will correct errors and inaccuracies when we become aware of them.

Palin Eyeglasses Are a Hot Item
Not since Jackie Kennedy's sense of fashion gave a lift to the pillbox hat industry has a political figure had such an effect on anything people wear. But optic shops around the country say women are calling in search of eyeglasses like the ones Sarah Palin wears. Fashion mags are nutso about this.

ABC News said that the company that makes the glasses started getting calls right after she hit the national spotlight.

Italee, the eyeglass maker, even features the style on its Web site. They are from a collection entitled the 704 series. Palin wears style "34 grey." They also have these with different colors.

One optician chat site said this is the biggest thing to hit the eyeglass market since Sally Jessy Raphael's famous red frames. Of course, you can find loads of them for sale on eBay.
