More Top Spots Wanted for Chinese Bloggers

Last month actress and director Xu Jinglei replaced Boing Boing as #1 on Technorati's top 100 list of popular weblogs. Now Virtual China is pointing to some Chinese bloggers -- like Song Zude -- who rank much higher than Xu Jinglei on the popular Chinese portal Sohu.com.

Song Zude is a wealthy mainland Chinese TV and film producer/director. His blog, which launched in February 2006 (just four months ago) has received over 8 million hits.

He describes himself as 18 years old "at heart," and loves nothing more than composing vicious critiques of popular Chinese stars (including Taiwan and Hong Kong). His posts are funny, mean, and full of juicy opinionated gossip.

Nastiness is certainly becoming the hallmark of successful blogging in China.
