A memo to Dow Jones news staffers says the project -- headed by
Paul Ingrassia -- "will focus on how Dow Jones can best produce the news that will enable us to serve our various consumers even better than we do now -- and continue to do so better than any other media company."
Ingrassia, who has been president of Dow Jones Newswires, becomes vice president of news strategy.

Paul Steiger's successor "will occur over coming months. We've agreed with Paul that we will name his successor next spring and that he will stay on through the end of 2007. This will facilitate his own transition to the next step in his career as well as assist us in ensuring the smoothest transition of his managing editor duties."
