Richmond, Va.: How do you respond to criticism that your books are biased in favor of people who choose to be interviewed by you versus those who do not? Do you do anything specifically to correct for this as part of your editing process? Bob Woodward: Many reviewers and commentators have said that the book places Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld in a harsh light. He was interviewed extensively on the record for the book. I have a process of talking or trying to talk to everyone and get what we used to call "the best obtainable version of the truth." This is a pretty full account and I believe it's fair-minded.
