Adam Reilly said then that he included the blogger's comment "to show just how over the top some of Shaughnessy's detractors are." An editor's note in today's Phoenix says "the slur should never have been written or repeated ...We are sorry for any distress or embarrassment caused to Dr. Shaughnessy."
