GQ editor calls his magazine "a gateway into adulthood"

"It takes you from high school into your 40s and 50s," says Jim Nelson. GQ's circulation has steadily grown since Nelson was named editor-in-chief in 2003, reports Irin Carmon. Over at Esquire, editor-in-chief David Granger says his magazine is for "the high normal American man." Esquire, he adds, "isn't made for the cr�me de la cr�me. It's made for a successful, but not crazy successful, American man."
