Lexington Herald-Leader
Herald-Leader publisher
Tim Kelly says the Lexington Newspaper Guild's
statements about contract talks misrepresent management positions and "the union appears bent on trying to damage the image of the Herald-Leader and McClatchy in the community." He adds that the paper "is proud to continue to offer pay raises and salaries to newsroom employees that are above the Guild scale. In fact, the average salary for a full-time Guild journalist is a little more than $50,000 and tops out at over $70,000."
