John Morton notes that the value of newspapers is depressed, and that the Blethen family will be "lucky if they get half of what they paid for [their Maine papers in 1998]." He adds: "I think we all know that they're struggling in Seattle. Business has not been good for large metropolitan newspapers in the last year, and I'm sure they haven't escaped that.
