A quick search of major print media outlets turns up 160 uses of the word "flamboyant" to describe Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir. Also, several sports reporters have described his failure to win an Olympic medal as a "flameout" or other variations on the word "flaming." Kevin Nance writes that Weir's taste in costumes encourages speculation about his sexual orientation. "Weir can be provocative -- by using the nickname 'Tinkerbell,' for example -- in a way that almost dares journalists to ask about his sexuality."
