Exploring teen slang
Here's an idea for a neat feature. How do the students in your school talk? Different groups might make up a language of their own. If so, what do the terms they use mean and where do they come from? In Al's Morning Meeting, Poynter's Al Tompkins gets you started with a story from the Boston Globe.

Tompkins writes:

The Boston Globe catches us up on the latest teen slang. What is a 100m hottie? What does it mean if a person is "agnorant?" What does "gnar" mean? If a person is "flossin'" what are they doing? You better get with it. Here is a glossary of the words.

The story examines the role the internet plays in spreading slang farther and faster than ever before.
