On Thursday, the Chicago Sun-Times led with a front page editorial on illegal guns in Chicago. It’s the first in a series about gun control reform. Via Newseum:
The editorial compares issues with illegal guns to how drunk driving was once treated, “no harm, no foul, until somebody dies.”
We are so tired of writing headlines like the one on the front page of Tuesday’s Sun-Times: “Shooting kills pregnant mother, grandma; baby hurt.”
And you, we know, are so tired of reading those headlines.
In March, my colleague Al Tompkins wrote about a front page editorial from the The Indianapolis Star.
The editorial calls for immediate and definitive action “to prohibit discrimination in employment, housing, education and public accommodations on the basis of a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.”

In April, Jim Romenesko wrote about a front page editorial from The Tennessean on health insurance.
Charles Apple has a great collection of front page editorials on topics including immigration, bullying and sexual assault. And in April, Sharon Shahid wrote for Newseum about the trend, which actually has a past.
