On Tuesday, CNN’s Chris Cillizza introduced himself on Reddit and asked users to start sending in their questions.
Hi everyone, I’m Chris Cillizza, editor at large for CNN Politics. I haven’t been here long – but I’ve been covering politics forever, mostly at The Washington Post and before that at Roll Call. At the Post, I started their politics blog, The Fix, which they still use. Here at CNN, we recently launched The Point with Chris Cillizza, a multiplatform brand that helps you cut through the crap. Check it out here. I like the Internet and I like politics. I also like pro wrestling. And Dawson’s Creek. And the Washington Nationals.
And oh, the questions.
Journalists have done AMAs (short for “Ask Me Anything”) on Reddit before. They can show a side the public doesn’t often get to see. They can be a platform for testing ideas. They can dig deep into the news. Or, as with Cillizza’s, they can be pretty brutal.
Here’s a sampling:
There are more than 800 comments and growing. Cillizza is answering some of them.
Cillizza was a good sport about the whole thing. Here’s what he tweeted after we published this story.
I thought it went great. People have the right to not like me. And they should have their voices and critiques heard. https://t.co/556bq18FvW
