As Anthony Scaramucci would surely concede, the impact of a telephonic tirade with a New Yorker reporter has been f****** amazing.
His profane and vitriolic interview with Ryan Lizza, which the magazine can pretty much correctly claim “has been the talk of Washington — and beyond — since the article was published the evening of July 27” has been a mix of unavoidable political anthropology and clickbait.
“To date, the piece has generated: 4.4 million unique visitors, making it newyorker.com’s most-read piece of 2017 so far and 1.7 million entries from social-media platforms,” the magazine disclosed Sunday.
It also generated “more than 100,000 concurrent visitors in the hours following publication, a record for newyorker.com.”
And, “Since the story was published, we’ve seen a 92 percent increase in the July daily average of new subs.”
Inevitably, one can wonder how long media will experience what amounts to a “Trump bump,” with some recent glimmers that it’s on the wane.
But that was before last week’s change of personnel, replete with Scaramucci’s tirade and the ouster of Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, with whom Scaramucci had dueled.
