Thirty percent of online newspaper readers in a recent ITZ Belden survey are considering the purchase of an Apple iPad. According to reporting by Newsosaur blogger Alan Mutter, the survey looked at readers of three newspapers in mid-sized communities “far from the tech hubs on either coast.” In addition the survey found that 30 percent of visitors to the newspaper sites owned smart phones, and an additional 25 percent were considering buying one. The poll was conducted by Greg Harmon of ITZ Belden, who expressed some surprise at the iPad results especially. “The level of interest in tablets at this stage is unbelievably strong. When I first saw the numbers, I actually thought something was wrong with the data.”
