Kathleen Tobin

Kathleen Tobin manages the Teen Fact-Checking Network, a group of teens from throughout the United States who produce fact-check videos for YouTube, TikTok and Instagram and teach their peers media literacy tips.

Before joining MediaWise at Poynter, Kathleen taught high school journalism for 18 years in St. Petersburg. Prior to that, she worked for 17 years at the Tampa Bay Times (then St. Petersburg Times) where she was a copy editor and a reporter covering local news.

She has a master’s degree in journalism and communications from the University of Florida and a bachelor’s degree in English and education from Mount St. Mary’s College in Maryland.
