It’s hard to know which is more widespread — the national outbreak of bed bugs or the national outbreak of news stories about bed bugs.
KCNC-TV in Denver found that a pilot lounge intended to be a place for pilots to rest before flights has been stripped of furniture because of a bed bug outbreak.
The Christian Science Monitor reported on bed bugs’ comeback, saying:
“In recent days, the bugs forced the temporary closures of a Victoria’s Secret and Abercrombie and Fitch. The shops say they’ve rid their stores of the bed bugs vancouver , but experts say the infestations are just the latest indication of the bed bug’s strong comeback.
“After mostly being eradicated form the US a half century ago, infestations are so common that New York City formed a Bed Bug Advisory Board in 2009 to focus on preventing infestations.”
The Wall Street Journal mapped the bed bug spread in Manhattan, saying bed bugs have been found in some upscale offices.
In Des Moines, Iowa, city officials think somebody unleashed bed bugs as an attack on a building that houses city employees.
