Social media posts are claiming there could soon be a shake up in the hosting panel for “The View.”
“Whoopi (Goldberg), Joy (Behar) and Sunny (Hostin) Threaten To Resign ‘Immediately’ If Candace Owens Joins The Panel,” read a Sept. 10 Facebook post with photos of conservative commentator Owens and “The View” hosts.
This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)
“The View,” a morning talk show that airs weekdays on ABC, features a panel of six co-hosts: Goldberg, Behar, Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin. The show is in its 26th season.
Although the post suggests Owens could be joining the show, this is not real news. In the comments, the post’s author linked to a blog post that includes a disclaimer that “the following text is a satirical piece intended for humor and entertainment.”
The Dunning-Kruger Times, another satirical website, also shared a blog post with this headline.
Lauri Hogan, a spokesperson for “The View,” told PolitiFact “there is absolutely no truth to this.”
Owens did not immediately respond to PolitiFact’s request for comment. In January 2022, Owens criticized “The View” for not having “a true conservative” as a host, the New York Post reported. Owens told the Post she doubted the show would consider her as a host.
We rate the claim that three co-hosts of “The View” threatened “to resign ‘immediately’ if Candace Owens joins the panel” False.
