Yoel Roth
Knight Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania and former Head of Trust & Safety at Twitter
Yoel Roth cares about building technology that’s resilient to threats and helps people and communities connect safely and authentically. He is currently a Knight Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, a Technology Policy Fellow at UC Berkeley and a Nonresident Scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. His research and writing focuses on trustworthy governance approaches for social media, AI and other emerging technologies.
Roth is the former Head of Trust & Safety at Twitter where he led global content moderation, integrity and account security efforts.
Before joining Twitter, Roth received his PhD from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. His research and teaching examined the technical, policy, business and cultural dynamics of social networking and dating apps at the dawn of the “App Store” age.
