Cyber-Freedom, Take 2

At the same time as presenting the Cyber-Freedom prize (see item below this), Reporters Without Borders published its second annual report on the Internet. “The Internet under surveillance: Obstacles to the free flow of information online” is a 150-page, country-by-country survey of developments in Internet freedom around the world. It’s an excellent resource and reminds us that government censorship and surveillance online are not limited to the traditional nasty dictatorships of this world. Most democracies have pretty dark records, too — in the last two years especially.
