The deal would result in the layoffs of truck drivers at the Herald, which says in a statement that it’s “facing declining circulation and revenue, must take steps to reduce operating expenses.” The Globe already has contracts to print and distribute the Patriot Ledger of Quincy and the Enterprise of Brockton, as well as the Boston Metro, and local editions of The New York Times. || Read the Herald’s story on the talks.
