Colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that David Cay Johnston, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author, is joining our organization.
David will launch a twice-weekly column on tax, provide TV commentaries and write on other business subjects. He joins our growing team of journalists covering areas of critical interest to our Professional Division customers and to our broader audience.
A 13-year veteran of The New York Times, David garnered the Pulitzer in 2001 for enterprise reporting that uncovered loopholes and inequities in the U.S. tax code. Over the course of his career, his stories exposed the United Way for unauthorized spending, detailed how Enron avoided paying taxes, and revealed that Donald Trump owed more on his properties than they were worth. More recently, David has been writing a column for Tax Analysts, the nonprofit publisher of the weekly trade journal Tax Notes.
A resident of Rochester, N.Y., David serves as a Distinguished Visiting Lecturer at Syracuse University College of Law and Whitman School of Management. He has written several best-selling books, including ‘Free Lunch: How the Wealthiest Americans Enrich Themselves at Government Expense (and Stick You With the Bill)’. His latest, ‘The Fine Print: How Big Companies Abuse “Plain English” and Other Tricks to Rob You Blind’, will be published in January.
David will report to Howard Goller, Reuters Editor for Tax & Accounting, Healthcare & Science. His column, launching the week of July 5, will feature prominently on the new Thomson Reuters News & Insight site for tax and accounting professionals (www.tax.newsandinsight.com) and will appear regularly on the Reuters wire and reuters.com.
