Citing New York Times policy, Baghdad-based reporter Dexter Filkins won’t talk about his habit of carrying a gun, “but people familiar with the situation say the issue of Mr. Filkins’ gun and a range of other security issues in Iraq are currently being debated within the New York Times,” writes Julia Angwin. Washington Post Baghdad bureau chief Rajiv Chandrasekaran tells her: “If you feel you need a gun to cover a story, then you shouldn’t be doing the story.”
