According to a recent Associated Press report, blogging in Iran is posing new challenges to authorities who prefer media control, as the blogs fulfill roles of “cyber-sanctuary — part salon, part therapist’s couch.” Thousands of Iranian blogs have proliferated since 2001, thanks to a blogging service in the Farsi language. Internet usage in Iran is expected to grow to 15 million users by 2006. Popular blog sites include Lady Sun, Pedram Moallemian, and Hossein Derakhshan blog.
