“The ease of the Internet represents danger as well as opportunity (for journalists),” said Bill Mitchell of the Poynter Institute, a journalism research and education centre in St. Petersburg, Fla.


“It’s so easy to cut and paste while you’re gathering information in terms of putting your notes together,” he said. “When you get to the point of actually writing, you’ve got to be careful to differentiate ideas that you banged out yourself and ideas that you cut and pasted from elsewhere.”
