I am having a really tough time keeping up with all the developments in the world of search engines. It feels like major new features (or what some claim are major new features) are added every day.
One way to track these developments is to read the blogs that cover search engines well. Here are the ones I glance at once a week:
- Search Engine Watch Blog: From legendary search engine expert Danny Sullivan, this is a useful group blog and a must-read.
- Traffick: From web advertising expert Andrew Goodman, this has long, thoughtful posts.
- Search Engine Lowdown: From search engine marketing executive Andy Beal, this is useful for the business side of the topic.
- Searchblog: From magazine editor and columnist John Battelle, this is a collection of his “thoughts on the intersection of search, media, technology, and more.”
And then there are the official blogs run by the search engines themselves:
- Google Blog: “Insight into the news, technology, and culture of Google.”
- Yahoo! Search Blog: “A look inside the world of search from the people of Yahoo!”
- MSNsearch’s WebLog: “We will announce new products, features and releases related to MSN Search. We will answer frequently asked questions, make clarifications, and once in a while we may address a rumor or two. We’ll discuss significant problems and fixes.”
YOUR TURN: Know of a blog or a site that would be helpful to others? Send it to poynter@sree.net.
