Fox News Channel boss Roger Ailes confirms Bob Woodward‘s report that he sent a note to the White House last year suggesting policies for President Bush to follow in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks. Ailes insists the message wasn’t meant as political advice, report Bill Carter and Jim Rutenberg. He says he was only responding “as a human being and a citizen” who was outraged by the terrorist attacks. AILES ON WOODWARD: “He’s like Tom Clancy. They both make up a lot of stories, but Clancy does better research.”
