Facebook on Tuesday launched a series of courses devoted to teaching journalists how to use the social network better.
The courses are a one-stop shop for boning up on Facebook and its associated social networks and arose from “conversations with editors and journalists across the globe” who were looking for “a single destination where they can learn about Facebook’s products, tools and services,” according to an announcement accompanying the launch:
In the coming weeks, we will also commence a series of webinars on the site which will be tailored to journalists who are both new and old to Facebook. These webinars will be organized according to new products and features, a person’s level of experience using Facebook as a journalist, and their role (newsgatherer, content creator, or audience engagement specialist).

The free courses, which go over discovering content, creating stories and building audiences, are offered over Blueprint, Facebook’s global training program. The social network also announced a Webinar for journalists dedicated to best practices for using Facebook Live.
The Webinar is part of a series of live video lessons for news organizations that will teach new products and features tailored to each journalist’s experience and role in the news cycle.
The e-learning courses are just the latest example of outreach to journalists on Facebook’s part. The social network has forged partnerships with news organizations in an effort to improve the quality of news on Facebook and assist publishers for whom the social network is a major source of referral traffic and native audience engagement.
