Today’s WriteLane podcast is about getting access and creating intimacy with the subjects of your stories.

The weekly podcast features Lane DeGregory, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter at the Tampa Bay Times and a frequent guest faculty member at Poynter, discussing her stories and answering questions. The focus is on craft.

This week’s podcast references three stories. Read them here:

A long talk in the woods, about a privileged beauty queen who spent the night at a camp for troubled gilrs.

Florida’s worst mom, a woman who spent four hours Googling while her young son lay dying.

Her second self, a profile of a former city manager who transitioned from Steve into Susan.

A new podcast is available each Wednesday morning on the Times’ website, SoundCloud and iTunes. Go here to listen and subscribe for free on the Podcasts app and iTunes. If you like the show, be sure to leave us a review.
