One of the best things about writing this column is all the tips I end up getting from all of you. Each week, I learn of new sites or new ways of looking at old sites. So it’s time again to share some of those tips with you.

Academic and Scholar Search Engines and Sources
This site includes a very useful 34-page PDF document that gives you a rundown of sites that deal with scholarly information online. Google Scholar is just one of dozens of resources that are described in the document by Marcus P. Zillman, a research expert and author. Also check out his subject-based resource guides at SearchingTheInternet.info.

PI News Link
This blog’s tagline says it all: “articles of note for the investigator.” Private investigator Tamara Thompson focuses on free resources and access to public records. There’s plenty of material here that journalists can use as well.

Law and Policy Institutions Guide
A comprehensive reference site for legal and legislative information run by Randy Roberts, a law student and Web designer. You can use this as an annotated starting point for items about the law.

SAJA CONVENTION: More than 50 workshops and panels at this year’s gathering of 1,000+ journalists from around the world -– June 16-19 in NYC. You don’t have to be South Asian to attend! Also see the launch of SAJA Reporting Fellowships: $10,000 in funds to go cover the aftermath of the tsunami.
