An Annoying Website

Proving yet again that there is room for anything in cyberspace, I came across AmIAnnoying.com thanks to “The Tony Kornheiser Show,” the sometimes annoying ESPN radio sports talk show. Kornheiser doesn’t always talk about sports, of course, which sports fans sometimes find annoying (actually, I enjoy Kornheiser’s approach, which is why I often listen). Almost 7,000 personalties have made the AmIAnnoying.com site since it began in 2001. I was curious to see who the most annoying sports celebrities of 2002 would be, and I was surprised to discover that WNBA basketball star Sheryl Swoopes led the sports pack and was No. 3 overall — ahead of No. 31 Mike Tyson, No. 38 Martina Navratilova, No. 58 Barry Bonds, and No. 71 Lisa Leslie, yet another professional women’s basketball player. And the least annoying sports personality? Sue Bird, the former University of Connecticut women’s basketball star and now a WNBA player. So, what is it with these women’s basketball players anyway?
