The 103rd annual Pulitzer Prizes offer more than just a reading list for some of the best work in journalism — they reveal how the industry’s most storied award is distributed.
According to this year’s list, 24 news organizations were finalists. 11 won prizes. And local newsrooms had an impressive showing, with 14 nods.

At the same time, most Pulitzer winners this year were men — they outnumbered women more than two to one.
