Some of them have Pulitzers, Emmys, Peabodys. Some are in their 20s. A handful of them are in bands, and many of them have traveled the world. One of them even wore the San Diego Chicken on his head while asking a question of the president.
They’ve covered AIDS in the Midwest, sidewalk poets in St. Petersburg, religion in the Pacific northwest, the Olympics and Hurricane Katrina.
They are copy editors, photojournalists, coordinators, writers, editors and designers. But most of all, they’re teachers. Some of them will be dropping in for a session or two, others will stay the whole six weeks. And they’ll all leave their mark on the 2007 summer program. Each year is different, with a new crop of students and a new crew of professionals eager to share what they’ve learned as they’ve explored the horizons of high technology and the fundamentals of shoe-leather reporting.
A note to participants: Sit back, pay attention and prepare to be inspired.
