We are saying goodbye to Cris Tardáguila as associate director of the International Fact-Checking Network.
As we do so, we want to take a moment to celebrate the work that has taken place under Cris’ leadership, and which would not have been possible without her.
During her time as associate director, the IFCN has grown from a community of 60 organizations to 90, coordinated fact-checking projects at an unprecedented scale and was even recognized by the Paris Peace Forum.
Cris’ leadership was particularly crucial to the success of the Coronavirus Facts Alliance. To date, it is the largest coordinated project by fact-checkers worldwide. Cris led 99 organizations to meet the information crisis that accompanied and worsened the coronavirus pandemic.
Cris was let go from her role as associate director after differences in responsibilities of IFCN management and COVID-19 communications with partners.
The advisory board of the IFCN is reviewing those areas, respecting all parties.
In the meantime, Cris will be taking some time out and considering her future options and will remain a strong advocate for global fact-checking.
We wish her all the best with all of her future endeavors and thank her for her time at the IFCN.
