The stricken dad of missing teen soldier Jessica Lynch yesterday said he’s heartbroken over the fact that his beloved daughter adores small children – but now may never live to have any of her own.

“She really loved small kids. That’s what makes it so bad,” Greg Lynch said of his 19-year-old daughter, an Army supply clerk with the “wrong way” convoy that was ambushed and its members either killed or taken prisoner Sunday inside Iraq.

“The only thing they can tell us is she’s missing,” Lynch said from the family’s tiny hometown of Palestine, W.Va., where yellow ribbons and American flags adorn their and neighbors’ houses.

“I just want them to bring her back safely – her and all the rest of the kids.”

Relatives described the woman they lovingly call Jesse as a simple country girl who enlisted to try to escape the poverty of her town.

She was following in the footsteps of her older brother, Gregory Jr., who is stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., their dad said. He is on his way home.
