Suppose you could build a media dream team, composed of history’s greatest journalistic contributors.  Who would be the editor-in-chief? Police Reporter?  TV critic?

Mark Zieman, editor of The Kansas City (Mo.) Star, gathered what he considered to be the greatest  journalists to have ever lived to staff his newspaper, The Eternal Journal. He wrote about it for the American Society of Newspaper Editors’ high school journalism site, highschooljournalism.org.

Check out some of his selections:
  • Editor-in-Chief Mark Twain
  • Science Editor H.G. Wells
  • Foreign Editor Winston Churchill
  • Sunday Magazine Editor Edgar Allen Poe
  • Financial Columnist Karl Marx
  • Art Director Walt Disney
  • Vice President/Human Resources Susan B. Anthony
Zieman provides reasoning for each of his selections, along with a journalism resume, short bio and a famous quote from each historical figure. Check out the full staff at: Building a Newsroom Dream Team.
