Every U.S. election provides the same challenge to European newspapers: What to publish in the print edition the next day. Because of the difference in time zones, the name of the president elect is not known at the time a European paper hits the presses.

On Nov. 5, the Danish paper Politiken chose a solution which seemed logical: In large, red, bold letters the top headline was: “Vælg (Go to) www.politiken.dk.” Above that they ran a list of features their site offers today: U.S. election results, online video, Copenhagen election parties, etc.

Years back it took a fight to convince print editors to ad a small “www” logo here and there. Apparently, Politiken has come a long way. Congratulations!
