Kirit Radia

Kirit Radia’s 16-year career at ABC News has taken many forms, and took him from Washington to Moscow to New York. He started as a reporter covering the State Department and then became a correspondent in Moscow. Along the way he reported from dozens of countries, both in front of and behind the camera. He chased a meteorite across Siberia, was among the first to arrive at the scene of the Malaysia Airlines plane after it was shot down in Ukraine, and reported from Nairobi during the Westgate Mall terrorist attack. After his overseas assignment, he joined management in NY and became Director of International News in 2021. In that capacity, he now leads the foreign newsgathering operation. That includes editorial decisions about which stories to cover but also how best to staff them. He is particularly proud of a body of work he championed in Latin America, namely the epidemic of violence in Mexico and the crisis in Venezuela. Several of those stories were nominated for Emmy awards. Kirit previously participated in fellowships at the National Press Foundation, namely ‘What To Expect Next From China’ and the ‘Paul Miller’ fellowship on reporting in Washington.
