ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Poynter has announced the publication of a new collection of newspaper pages, “The Kennedys: America’s Front-Page Family.” Starting in 1960 with John F. Kennedy’s run for the presidency and ending with the death of Sen. Edward Kennedy, the book covers 50 years of the Kennedy family, as told through newspapers that chronicled American history as it happened.

“For those interested in the story of the Kennedys, this book offers a unique perspective on their lives and the major impact they had on millions of Americans,” said Julie Moos, Director of Poynter’s Web site and co-editor of the book. “But it’s also a book that provides a timeline for  many of the most important stories in recent American history, including Civil Rights, the race to the Moon and the war in Southeast Asia.”

Produced in partnership with Andrews McMeel Publishing, “The Kennedys: America’s Front-Page Family” follows on the success of “President Obama,” Poynter’s collection of election and inauguration front pages that spent six weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. Like “President Obama,” profits from sales of “The Kennedys” will help fund scholarships for those unable to pay for Poynter training. The book, which retails for $16.99, is available at www.poynter.org/kennedybook.

The book includes pages from dozens of newspapers, including The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Dallas Morning News, Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times.
