Brittany Shaughnessy is a doctoral candidate and graduate assistant in the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. She holds a bachelor's degree in communication from Coastal Carolina University and a master's degree in communication from Virginia Tech. Her specialization is in political communication, and her research aims to understand the impact of different media — such as alternative, local, or non-profit outlets — on American society and democracy.
