Julie Ricard is a researcher and technologist. She is the Director of the "Technology and Democracy" Program at Data-Pop Alliance, where she leads the organization’s work about disinformation in Global Majority countries. Julie is also a PhD Candidate in Public Policy at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (São Paulo). Previously she was a “Tech & Society” fellow at the Mozilla Foundation. As a researcher and development practitioner, she worked with migrants and refugees in Europe and Latin-America, as well as on gender mainstreaming and gender-based violence. She graduated from two master’s degrees — International Development (Sciences Po Paris) and in Gender and Development (Paris Diderot University).
