Kelley Benham French attended Poynter writing programs from the time she was in high school. She received internships at the St. Petersburg Times in both photography and feature writing. At the now Tampa Bay Times she became an ace reporter and a story editor. After an influential time at Indiana University as a journalism teacher, she has moved to the Washington Post as an editor for narrative stories — probably long ones.
