Mark Stencel (@markstencel) is co-director of the Duke Reporters' Lab, where he studies the spread and impact of political fact-checking. He is NPR's former managing editor for digital news and previously held senior positions at the Washington Post, Congressional Quarterly and CQ's Governing magazine. He also covered science and technology for the News & Observer in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. Stencel began his career at the Post as an assistant to political columnist David S. Broder.
