Today marks the beginning of Teachapalooza, Poynter's annual training for college journalism educators. Poynter's senior faculty for broadcasting and online, Al Tompkins, is once again leading the teaching, which includes sessions on social media and analytics, digital literacy, visual journalism and ethics, coaching writers and preparing students for work in modern media.
Social media strategist Sree Sreenivasan gave a rousing keynote presentation with dozens of social media tips for teachers. Here are some of the tweets that came out of his talk.

@sree Social media is about generosity. Practice 4-1-1. Four posts are about others, one is something of interest and one is about you. It's not all about you. #teacha18

Fun to hear @sree talk about @sgissler, editor of the paper of my youth, the Milwaukee Journal. (But competitor from my Milwaukee Sentinel years.) Famous for saying we should stay open-minded but not so open our brains fall out. #teacha18

@sree Social media is the only thing I do today that can get me fired. Social media is the only thing that can get me divorced today. So social media is about trust, which is why you should take time on your posts. #teacha18
