Despite the Supreme Court being one of the most powerful and influential institutions in America, even the high court finds its rulings mired in misinformation, from abortion to gun control and from climate protection to religious freedoms. Few journalists have a handle on the true facts better than author and CNN legal analyst Joan Biskupic.
Join the Poynter Institute and its Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking site PolitiFact for an elegant, private event with Biskupic in the gorgeous riverside Sequoia D.C. restaurant and event venue. Together, we’ll sort fact from fiction about the nine justices and their constitutional oaths to reign with integrity, uphold the law of the land and administer the will of the people.
We’ll also discuss:
- Proposals to expand the number of justices on the court
- The leaked draft opinion about abortion
- Conflicts of interests, including those of justices’ spouses
The conversation will be moderated by Poynter President Neil Brown and feature an audience Q&A. Attendees will also have an opportunity to submit questions in advance.
Guests will also receive full access to all three days of the online festival of fact-checking, United Facts of America, to attend at your convenience.
Event proceeds support the nonprofit work of Poynter’s PolitiFact, one of the nation’s largest independent newsrooms fighting online misinformation and reporting facts to help citizens make more informed decisions.
